Hi Red,

I would most likely be your mentor for this. Could you describe your
idea in more detail? (As I understand it, GSoC requires you to submit a
project proposal with the application. I'm happy to work with you to
refine it.)

Depending on your level of experience, there may be larger projects that
would be good for GSoC. I think it would be great for someone to work on
a ruleset update mechanism that is separate from the main extension
update mechanism, but perhaps that's too ambitious.

Very glad to hear there's interest; it would be great for us to do GSoC
this year, speaking as a former GSoC intern. :)
