I DID join the HTML5 trial months ago, but when I went back and checked, 
I see that I somehow got removed from it. I re-joined the trial, and the 
expand/shrink button now works (though it screws up the rest of the 
page, by turning everything below the video dark grey, instead of just 
the area around the video, like it's supposed to - that's not an 
HTTPS-Everywhere issue, though).

So it appears that this problem occurs with the ytimg.com rule enabled 
and Flash.
