Well, there is no _sale_ happening, they probably don't care much.

It's also interesting to look at your wr703 plan the other way around as 
well... so that when you are on the road, your home router could act as 
your VPN server.

So you connect from your hotel wifi or from one of these free VPN-only 
APs to your home router, who then proxies your traffic through your 
otherwise idle home connection at no extra cost.

You don't need a VPN pipe fatter than your end-end bandwidth anyway; 
since it's just you using your own home router you get up to half your 
home bandwidth remotely that way, which is probably more bandwidth than 
the shared WLAN AP would give you.
