Have you missed Techno-Activism Third Mondays? So have we! Join us at
EFF HQ this coming Monday, May 16, to learn about a statewide campaign
seeking greater transparency into how local police use surveillance
tech, and also how a new proposed law could twist the legacy of Prince
to support the corporate content industries – something that Prince
railed against in songs like "Jughead."

EFF activist and investigative researcher *Dave Maass*will share a
debrief from a recent "California Surveillance Sweep." Grassroots
supporters joined EFF in scouring the websites of hundreds of law
enforcement agencies around the country to ensure they have privacy and
usage policies for Automated License Plate Readers and Cell-site
Simulators, as required by new state laws. Having completed round one,
we're currently preparing the next phase and invite you to be a part of it.

In addition, EFF's Director of Copyright Activism, *Parker Higgins*,
will summarize a series of public roundtable discussions hosted by the
U.S. Copyright Office here in San Francisco this Friday. He'll also
discuss a handful of state-level efforts to ratchet up the powerof
rightsholders to constrainspeech, including the recently proposedand
dubious "PRINCEAct," a broad Minnesota proposal that ironically co-opts
the latemusician's name and personality in a nominal effort to prevent
such co-opting.

Date: May 16, 2016
Time: 6:00-8:00pm
Location: EFF, 815 Eddy Street, SF
