[HTTPS-Everywhere] Safari secure redirection demo, with caveat

Hi everyone,

Attached is a simple proof of concept. It can be installed using Develop > Show Extension Builder on the .safariextension directory.

Out of the box it redirects all HTTP to HTTPS, which is easier to test but bad for everyday use. You can restrict which sites it works on by changing the regex in redirect.js.

Caveat: have to turn off “Preload Top Hit in background” or the extension will intercept Safari’s preload, rewrite it to HTTPS, and set it as the tab’s URL. Other than that it’s a pretty usable way to redirect.

Let me know if you find any problems!
