[Certbot-dev] Hook Directories

Can you describe in more detail the use case for the hooks directories?
Is the idea that there might be multiple different pieces of software
that all need to be restarted or reloaded on renewal?

My general feeling is to resist adding new extensibility mechanisms
without a very strong reason, because they add to long-term maintenance
burden. But there may be a strong reason that I'm not familiar with!
